What you'll learn

  • Extended DRABC management in remote and outdoor settings
  • Perform CPR and use an AED effectively in the field
  • Manage an unconscious outdoor casualty for extended periods prior to evacuation
  • Manage severe and complex bleeding including wound packing in remote settings
  • Assess and manage fractures, dislocations and suspected spinal injuries
  • Recognise and treat hypothermia, heat illness, dehydration and drowning response
  • Manage anaphylaxis in remote settings where emergency services response may be delayed
  • Conduct ongoing patient assessment, monitoring and plan casualty evacuation
  • Coordinate with and brief emergency services upon their arrival
